40lbs!!!!!!!!!

That’s right people, 40lbs lost!!! WOW, I’m like very excited that I’m at this stage in my journey. i now weigh 318. Like i said last week with my last update that i wanted to be to the 40lb mark by my birthday, but as you see I’m already there with about 2 weeks to spare, which means by the time my birthday rolls around i will be closer to 50lbs lost.

I contribute last weeks weight loss to double workouts. I was working out around 3pm each day and then at night i was going for a run with my nephew. Even though the run was only about a 1.5 miles it was still to go out and run. I have been eating the same stuff that i do, but now for dinner I’m having smaller portions.

I’m starting work soon and have to prepare for that. So last night i went to Walmart and bought some meal shakes and meal bars and peanuts for me to take to work so i am not tempted to eat a bad lunch or run to the deli. The biggest part of dieting is preparation. And i plan on being fully prepared so i do not slip up this time. Also like i said its nice that the gym is very close to my job so either before or after work i can go to the gym and get my workout in.

So that’s it people. 40lbs in 3 months. And no end in sight.

Thank You

Duathlon Training!

Like i said in my last blog update, i am now training for the upcoming Duathlon in New Paltz on April 30Th. So far the training has been pretty straight forward and i can do pretty much all of it. The weight training for it has been a little on the hard side and sometimes while I’m at the gym its hard to get everything done that i need to without waiting an hour for everyone to stop using the machines. So most of the time i go into the 30min express workout area where its wide open and hardly anyone is ever there and do my weights in there.

As for cardio, i have been doing stationary bike and treadmill. Even though they are not the same as running/biking outside, it is still a workout and I’m still losing weight and getting stronger and faster. When i started biking i was at 12miles/41mins. Last week at the end of the week i did it again and i knocked 5 mins off my time. I was down to 12miles/36 mins. Now again, i know its not the same. But either way its helping me get in shape and lose weight and at the same time making my legs stronger. Once this weather starts to cooperate then i will start outside training and considering i have only 40 more days…i hope the weather shifts fast.

On another note. I lost another 3lbs. This is a good steady pace for me right now. I’m gaining muscle and losing fat. I enjoy it and its good to see results. I know once the golf course opens i will be outside all day working and then playing golf and working out so the pounds will def come off faster. But for right now, I’m more than pleased with 3lbs a week.

Thank You All

Its March Madness!!

We are now in the month of march which means that i have been doing this for 2 months and 3 weeks. I remember when i started this Noah and I had talked about a long term goal to set and a realistic time table.  He figured if i did everything right and did what i was supposed to that i would be 60lbs lighter by the end of June. Well as of right now I’m on the track if not a little ahead of it. As of the end of last week i lost 3lbs more. Putting me up to just about 30lbs lost. Which if i keep on this track, come June i will be at my long term goal. Granted i hope to be well ahead of that, but it is a good goal and a good weight loss. That would put me under 300lbs, which i have not been in a very long time. I don’t know what that Mike Davis looks like, but I’m happy to welcome him to my life.

This past week Noah and I started our training for the race at the end of April. I have been doing a lot of cardio. A lot of biking and running. Trying to shed the weight and also make my legs stronger and get my body used to going non-stop for that amount of time. It has only been a week and it has kicked my ass. This past Sunday Noah gave me a bike to train on. So once it gets a tad bit warmer i will be taking that out and you might even catch me riding up and down 9D. I’m very excited with all that is going on. And I’m very happy with the 3lb weight loss.

Thank You

Month 2: Week 2

Its been a long time(long time), i shouldn’t have left you(left you), without a dope blog to read to (read to read to re re read to read to) So listen up.

Jokes aside, it has been about 1 week or so since i have updated this. The week after my carb starve i had a bit of a shock, i gained 2lbs. Clearly upset and unknowing the reason behind this, i was pissed at myself. Thinking “did i do something wrong in the gym” ” was i not eating right”.  So i quickly went to Noah with the problem and we had come to the conclusion that it was because my body (after not eating carbs all week) was now storing them just to make sure it had energy. At first i was disappointed in myself. But then after last week and losing 4lbs. That puts me back up to 26lbs lost.

After having a long chat with my friend Mike, i have a better sense of the marathon that this transition is. He said “if its 1lbs a week its a WIN” and he is right. 1lb loss a week is a WIN and i should remember that. The human body is a tedious machine, that requires much attention. My goal is to keep Winning. Much like Charlie Sheens saying(minus the drugs)

Thank you all. And i will update you come Monday. March 7th

Month 1: Roundup

So to started off like i always do, i have some amazingly great news. As of the end of this past week, i have lost 7 more pounds. That puts my monthly total up to 24lbs!!! This has certainly exceeded my expectations and goals. Noah and i talked at the start and were happy with 2-5lbs a week. And to lose 24 in 4 weeks is just mind boggling. I’m very happy and very confident to say the least.

This month was hard, it demanded a lot of me. It was hard to change eating habits, working out, and bottom line lifestyle alterations. All of which was so worth it. Now that im on a pretty set routine with the way i eat, all i can do is get healthier and lose more weight.

In the beginning of this whole ordeal i was just sitting around doing nothing, knowing that one day i had to start. With the help of Noah and a few people it began and I’m very happy it did. This is not close to the end by any means. Like one of my very close friends said “this is not a sprint, this is marathon” and i could not agree with him more. I’m in this for the long haul, I’m in it to win it. I surround myself with relatively fit and in shape people who take care of themselves t a degree, and i like that. But with that being said, none of them know truly how it feels to be fat, or obese. Its a stressful undertaking, but knowing I’m capable of losing this much weight, makes me believe I’m capable of losing more and meeting my goals and keeping them.

I’m a very positive person, and i plan to stay that way. I always look at the glass half full. I guess my biggest fear is the unknown. I do not know the mike I’m looking to be, but i know i will not stop until i find him.

Thank you :)

My Low Carb Lunch, Enjoy

My Low Carb Lunch, Enjoy

Week 4: Wednesday

This is a mid-week update!

This week is a little different than most weeks. After a long talk with my friend(trainer)Noah. We have picked this week to be a carbohydrate starvation week. That means that this whole week from Mon-Sun, i will be eating foods with little to no carbs in them. I have been allowed to eat between 15-20g of carbs a day. Just to give you a fun fact, there is roughly 21g of carbs in a half cup of pasta. Depending on what pasta you buy, it might sway. But that’s just a for instance.

It has been hard, even though its only Wednesday and i have 4 more days to go. But i have also been able to find and eat food that i normally don’t eat. Last night for dinner i had lettuce wraps with chicken, cucumber, and shredded carrots. The taste was amazing. I was blown away. I have been eating a lot of turkey, chicken and veggies. Most veggies have carbs in them, but small amounts and they are good for you. Now this diet is just for this week, i will not stick with it. Its good for some, but not for me. This is a modified version of the world famous “Atkins Diet.”

I’m still working out 1-2 times a day and busting my ass doing so. Like i said i belong to Planet Fitness now and its been a blast. I’m happy to say that as of last night i have lost 2.25” on my waist line. 2.25”!!!! in just 3.5 weeks. that’s amazing to me and I’m very happy.

Thank You.
